The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy of HLL is to ‘be a socially responsible corporate entity with trust on three pillars of sustainable development–Social, Environmental and Economical’. In alignment with the vision of the company, HLL through its CSR & Sustainable Development initiatives, undertake projects for sustainable development of the community, mainly focusing on the need to reduce social and economic disparities of the society and protecting the ecological balance of the environment. HLL’s not for profit organisation, HLFPPT is involved in implementing HLL’s CSR & SD initiatives which require mass participation and involvement, public health research, health products and services delivery, providing consulting and management services, capacity building as well as communication and advocacy services.

Over the past decade, HLL has been giving utmost importance to the CSR Activities. The major CSR initiatives in the last one decade include:

• Pratheeksha Charity Initiative offering financial assistance to BPL Students
• My City, an integrated solid waste management project
• Adopted villages, Kanagala in Karnataka and Karakulam in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala
• Voluntary blood donation camps in various parts of the country
• Life Skill Training programmes for students of the government schools
• HLL renovated and maintaining two parks at Kowdiar and Poojappura Thiruvananthapuram
• General health checkup at government schools
• Support for Cancer care
• Installation of solar street lights
• Adolescent wellbeing interventions like distribution of sanitary napkins, awareness programmes, counseling services
• Opened a new Rest House for head load workers in Akkulam
• Detection of lifestyle diseases
• Development initiatives in tribal settings
